About WSCA

The West Sayville Civic Association is a grass roots, not for profit organization comprised of West Sayville residents who have concerns about the future of their neighborhood . While our association was originally formed as a means to fight inappropriate development on the Great South Bay, over the course of five years we have widened our scope to include the protection of the Greene's Creek Watershed, adherence to existing zoning and building codes, preservation of our historic landmarks, and community interaction with commercial entities in our downtown and waterfront areas. We also represent our hamlet on the town and county level, concerning ourselves with the larger issues of vehicular congestion on major roadways and the development of comprehensive management plan for all of Long Island.

Although we are often looked upon as just another part of Sayville, we are actually a community unto ourselves with our own unique history and our own special characteristics, starting with our own Post Office and Volunteer Fire Department. The list goes on:

* Long Island Maritime Museum: Home of the Priscilla, a working 19th century oyster sloop and a nationally recognized historic landmark.

* West Sayville Country Club: A public facility with an 18 hole golf course, Meadow's Edge Restaurant, 4 tennis courts, walking paths and a greenhouse.

* Green's Creek Park: 9 acre passive park with meandering boardwalk culminating at the Great South Bay.

* Town of Islip West Avenue Marina and Dock

* Kingston's Clam Bar

* Working Waterfront: West Sayville Boat Basin, Green's Creek Marina, Hart Shellfish, Bluepoint Oyster Company.

* West Sayville Fire Department: Home of The Flying Dutchman Drill Team, New York State Champions Nine years in a Row

* 18th century Green House, recognized historic landmark

* Thriving downtown with assorted retail stores and businesses.

* Sayville High School and Cherry Avenue Elementary School.

* Cherry Avenue Soccer Fields

* Brookside Park: headquarters of the Great South Bay Audubon Society
